Is the love only there to comfort us? Should we not try to make sense of love as each life event? Only the meaning rescues the human condition. Meaning… The big question. The unavoidable question. Nothing worth living without meaning. The meaning is the great question of man as he understands nothing and does nothing Masters. As is often the man mastery especially as he hoarse to believe otherwise. A love whose meaning is absent will remain a eros. You can also meet eros gives meaning : caresses, kissing, the body which fit together are a discovery of the other. If the Greek eros is most often the abduction, possession, it would be wrong to summarize it. The boundaries between the three loves are fine. Our age loves to put these borders. The transgression is watching our every step ; or our missteps.
The meaning of love surpasses us, and raises us. God gives us His son and the fact die on the cross for the sole purpose of giving meaning to our lives. It eradicates sin by revealing the open. It refers to love as only alternative to evil. And we must still remember St. Paul :
If I speak in tongues, that of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a resonating metal, a tinkling cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, when I have the most complete faith, one that moves mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
When I bestow all my goods to hungry, when I give my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous, it does not swagger, it is not puffed up, there is nothing ugly, it does not seek its own, it is not irritable, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth.
It bears all things, believes all, hopes all, endures all.
Love never disappears.
the prophecies ? They will be abolished.
Languages ? They will end.
The knowledge ? It will be abolished.
Because our knowledge is limited and our limited prophecy. But when it comes to perfection, which is limited will be abolished.
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I thought as a child, I reasoned like a child. became man, I put an end to what was specific to the child.
Now, as we see in a mirror and in a confused way, but then face to face.
Now, my knowledge is limited, but then I shall know as I am known.
And now these three remain, the faith, hope and love, but love is the greatest.(1)
We see that sits atop agape love. The agape is the ultimate end, like true meaning of love. Read St. Paul, we also realize that friendship is entirely contained in love. Philia can be thought only, but his Christian purpose is to become an agape. We also understand that its failure will not achieve this transformation. Imagine a philia between a man and a woman : there is always a risk of seduction. What is philia indulging in Eros ?
Finally, note that agape is a love devoid of seduction. It does not use “stuff”, fireworks. Obviously these are left to the prince of this world.
A new friendship, it is a revealed world that extends to our feet. What we reflex? In a world that extends to our feet. Are we responsible (from answer, do we respond) ? Have we done something to deserve this new love ? Non, we did nothing. If little sense came out of our daily actions. Our first instinct is often to tread this world feet, because immediately by the beauty we think it our own. This is the man. What is beautiful, what is better, what is beyond us, we must belong. not God. Non, not God. Because modern man has stopped believing in God. Too big, too strong, no time for such nonsense that it can appropriate. Exceeding the possession or deserves only contempt. We must go faster. We do not have time. If we can not have, if you can not enjoy, is despised. It is easily understood since the popularity of Eros.
In all creatures, something is missing, and not only not to be creative.
In those fleshly, we know it, it lacks pure beings.
But those pure, you must know it, it fails to be carnal.(2)
So this world who knocks? If he gives, it dominates the. If he gives, it has the. There is summarized our complacency vis-à-vis the Other. Because there is no more egalitarian place than love. Love is truth and everyone is equal before the truth.
Many friendships défaillissent after some time. In the majority of cases, this failure is revealed as soon as one or both parties boast. As soon as one or both parties want to own, or confirm with a dull sense of superiority. As soon as one or both parties adopt a paternalistic position there is more listening. As soon as he can no longer be any real listening, as soon as it is submitted to a value judgment, an invisible and unspoken hierarchy, but full, settles. There is no longer the minimum required to speak and listen. The word no longer feel.
1- We also know that we can in this offering of Paul replace the word love in the name of Jesus. We appeal to recite these stanzas and thus be imbued.
